Type of Meals Served:

Landmark Diner 3652 Roswell Road Atlanta Ga. at the intersection of Roswell and Peidmont road- (Buckhead) There's only a few reasons a restaurant remains open 24 hours a day, and we took advantage of this after the bars closed and we were looking to make less-than-great decisions.

I will say that the well-dressed Lebanese gentleman taking our order was more than patient with the drunken distractions of people who were cohesive enough to come up with the idea of going somewhere to eat but couldn't figure out what specifically to eat. It's a diner not so much in the classic small eggs and hamburgers joints of the 50's, but more of the "little bit of everything" that places like Denny's popularized. This was evidenced by the grilled cheese, chicken pita, scrambled eggs, and fried grouper that the table ordered.

My grouper was pretty well-fried, though it was dressed pretty plainly with the standard sandwich-making materials and ordinary fries. A parmesan ketchup was nice, though, and tasted pretty good for four in the morning.

As the people at my booth got distracted and stumbled off to get lost down the streets of Buckhead, I got to try the other dishes. I wasn't impressed by the chicken pita nor scrambled eggs (though you can't really expect much about the latter), but the grilled cheese was a substantial rendition, served on hearty rye bread and containing a balancing amount of cheese.

There's not enough here for me to return during the light of day, but the Landmark diners unoffensive American was pretty good in the middle of the night, and I give them props for putting up with not one, but two glasses of spilled water. We all left to find our way home down the empty Piedmont avenue, but with our munchies satisfactorily quashed.

$ 10 or less per meal
