Description:

When looking at the upcoming film, "The Artist," which is about 1920s Hollywood silent movie star, one is reminded of a wildly different film: "The Little Mermaid."

To borrow a line from the Disney classic, "Don't underestimate the importance of body language," which, if you boil it down, (and reverse it and forget that it's a cartoon) is just what the film is about.

George Valentin, played by Jean Dujardin (who won Best Actor at Cannes for his performance), is huge star, without making so much as a peep.

Now, with the advent of talking pictures, he worries that his time on top will come to an end.

With an impressive supporting cast, (John Goodman, James Cromwell and Missi Pyle), Michel Hazanavicius paints a lively picture of old Hollywood and reminds us that silence is still golden.

"The Artist" will be at the Toronto Film Festival, and it opens in the US on November 23, 2011.
